The $20 billion transportation plan focuses on three major categories of investment. Together, these projects reduce congestion, expand reliable transit, and connect communities across Mecklenburg County.

Public Transit, Rail Development, Road Improvement
District 1 – North Mecklenburg
Investments include commuter rail from Gateway Station to Davidson, new microtransit zones (North Meck, Prosperity Church, Nevin-Derita), and major road capacity projects in Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson.

Public Transit, Rail Development, Road Improvement
District 2 – West & Southwest Charlotte
Light rail extension from the Airport to Coliseum/Ovens, plus microtransit in Pawtucket-Coulwood, Shopton/River District, Steele Creek, and West Boulevard. Strong emphasis on road upgrades and better bus corridors.

Public Transit, Rail Development
District 3 – North & East Charlotte
Gold Line streetcar expansion (Rosa Parks to Eastland), commuter rail (Gateway to Davidson with Harris & Derita stations), and new microtransit zones (Prosperity Church, University City, Hidden Valley, Harrisburg-Albemarle).

District 4 – East Charlotte & Mint Hill
Streetcar expansion to Eastland, new microtransit in Mint Hill-Marshbrooke and Harrisburg-Albemarle, plus road improvements and bus frequency upgrades.

District 5 – South Charlotte
Key investments include expanded Better Bus service, road projects in SouthPark/Woodlawn, and microtransit in Ballantyne, Starmount-Quail Hollow, and Park Crossing.
